Station 1 of 13 · Origin · the record
Rosa damascena Mill.
The damask rose, Rosa damascena Mill., is the perfumer’s rose. Its flowers are picked with the sepals, in the early morning, for a few weeks each spring; from them come rose otto by distillation and rose absolute by solvent extraction.
Two of its places are on record here: the Valley of Roses around Kazanlak in Bulgaria, whose rose oil is a protected name, and Taif in Saudi Arabia, where the picking season begins at the end of March. The family, the cultivars and the other growing regions are not filed until a source is.
The record
Each field carries its evidence: open a chip for the source, the quoted words and the confidence. A field with nothing behind it says so and stays empty.
