Agarospirol

Agarospirol, C15H26O, CAS 1460-73-7, is the sesquiterpene alcohol the house’s oud essay names as its key molecule. Its identity is PubChem’s.

A study of its biosynthesis calls it one of agarwood’s characteristic compounds, with a spicy, peppery, woody note; it was first isolated from the essential oil of Aquilaria malaccensis.
