Perkin reports a synthesis of coumarin, 1868
In 1868 Perkin reported a synthesis of coumarin.
Two reviews on file date it so; one calls it a breakthrough in the history of odorant synthesis. Coumarin is the named material of Fougère Royale, whose family, the fougères, is the teaching fougère accord here.
