Iris pallida Lam.
Iris pallida Lam., of the family Iridaceae, is the iris behind Tuscan orris. The scent is in the rhizome, not the flower.
A review of the genus has the rhizomes dug whole in the summer of the third year, then peeled and dried slowly for about three more years before they are distilled.
